Here we go again...

This update is long over due! Things have been crazy around here lately and I haven't had time to even think about internet stuff. I don't even think I have mentioned on here that my sweet husband got promoted and of course that means we are moving!
Again...
Those of you who know us might recall that when we found out we were pregnant with Hutch we also found out that Shawn got promoted...which led us to Shamrock. A lot has happened since this last move. Not only are we parents to an amazing little boy but we are going about things with this move much differently.
When we moved to Shamrock we searched and searched and searched a little more for houses. We found one in Mclean, TX...UGH...put an offer on it and luckily everything fell through. We realized soon after that we were trying to rush things and do things on our time and schedule. Little did we know that God had the perfect house on Wall St. prepared for us. After we moved in, relaxed a little bit, had our little Hutch and continued to let God do His work we learned to love little Shamrock.
Many offices soon became available for Shawn to apply for..so we did. They were all over the place (Levelland, Bandera, Gainesville, Brownfield and a few others). At first we thought..."How do we know that this is where God wants us?" We came to the conclusion that if we got the location then that is where we were supposed to be. After many applications and months later we applied for Seminole and got it instantly. Not only were we thrilled because we know that God has a great plan for our lives there but it's so close to home!!
Last week we went to Lubbock and spent a few days in Seminole looking for houses. This time around we didn't rush nor did we jump on the first house we saw.  One thing we learned about Seminole is that the people there really do care about their town. All of the houses we looked at were in wonderful condition and had very little to be done. We found a house that we LOVE...to be honest the inside is precious but the yard is what sold us. It's about the same size as our yard here in Shamrock and it's a blank slate. Shawn is a big yard person and is so excited to get going on it. Everything on the inside is new and updated all we really have to do is new carpet in the bedrooms and paint! Whew.
After a few back and forth negotiations we finally settled on a price with the sellers and are under contract! We had the home inspections done yesterday and were told that for a house in that age range it is one of the best kept houses that the inspector has seen in a long time. That made us feel great and just confirmed that this is the house that God has been preparing for us.
We have loved this moving experience much more than the last. Our realtor is a wonderful Christian woman and has been nothing but helpful. She's also a member of the Methodist church in Seminole...at least we will know one person when we go. We've also been praying about our church home there in Seminole. Our little Methodist church here has been nothing but amazing. The day we signed the contract our realtor asked us if we would like to join their church's summer softball team!! We were thrilled. We aren't even members yet and they are already welcoming us with open arms.
Again...God has a great plan for this move.
Stay tuned for pictures of our new house, Hutch updates and sweet little baby updates!

Getting caught up

I feel horrible! It's been a good while since I have blogged anything. We had computer issues which MADE us get a new computer. We are so glad we did...we are officially an Apple family :) I was so worried that I had lost all of my pictures of Hutch...but luckily they guy that worked on it was able to get it going so we could save all of our pictures. I think we also need to invest in an external hard drive.

Hutch is getting so big and is so sweet. Let's see Hutch is:
-Still sleeping through the night. It's wonderful. He LOVES his sleep. He has gotten to the point where he really doesn't even like to be rocked. Just feed him and lay him down. NO FUSSING EITHER!
- He takes 2 2-3 hour naps during the day
- He has 2 solid feedings during the day and gets mommy's milk for all the other feedings.
- He is now eating bananas, apples, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, peas, cereal...I know there are more I just can't think of them all. He loves them all too! I LOVE making all of his baby food too! No store bought Gerber things...all fresh produce!
- He is sooo very close to crawling!!! He makes so much progress each day.
- He loves the puppy dogs. He talks to them anytime they are around. *I think Hattie is his favorite...she let's him pet her without licking him like crazy
- I think it's safe to say he loves my singing! This just warms my heart. He can be in the most dramatic cry and then I start singing the itsy bitsy spider and he stops. I have a cute video to post soon of him listening to Sugarland...I sing their new song "stuck like glue" to him all the time. It was on the TV the other day and he stopped everything to watch it!
- He loves everyone...except for my dad sometimes. As much as it breaks my dad's heart...I think it is pretty cute. I'm not sure what it is about dad that scares him.
- He sits up so good now but he makes falling over sound like the worst thing that could ever happen to a six month old.
Here are some 6 month pictures: Well scratch that...I can't upload pictures for some reason. Check back later...I'll figure it out.

Shawn and I have been so busy lately...I have been in Lubbock every weekend this month! That is one of the worst drives when you have to make it that often. We have a break this weekend so it's going to look like Christmas in the Overton home. Hutch has his very first Christmas tree in his room! Shawn and I plan on getting each of our kids their own trees for their rooms so they can decorate them however they want. We will help Hutch out the first few years :)

*It's really killing me that I can't upload pictures.

I still haven't finished my quilt. It is all layered together...I just have to learn to quilt now and then put my binding on...but I also have to have time to do all of this. Something that I don't have much of right now. While our laptop was "hibernating" I worked on a few sewing projects. I made a quilted alphabet for our friends little girl. They turned out so cute...again..wish I could post pictures. I also made a camera strap cover...not the prettiest thing but cute. I couldn't look at the tutorial online so I just had to wing it. I'll re-do it the correct way soon.

I guess that's about it. I'll do a picture post once I figure out what the deal is. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Lubbock Trip and House Updates!

I spent this last weekend in Lubbock with my family. I hadn't been back to Lubbock since Christmas and was in need of a weekend away from Shamrock. I had a very enjoyable time with my family, friends, getting my hair done and of course doing a little shopping. My handsome little nephew Brenden always makes my visits there more enjoyable. Just look at this smile...He is at the point where he repeats everything you say! I love hearing his sweet little voice when he says "She-own" which if you say that fast it is Shawn. He calls me DeeDa...it used to be Ding Dong. My sister and I walked into a store and the second we walked in he yelled "DING DONG" and got the attention of everyone in the store! He then proceeded to smile at everyone and dance along with the music. He has also started giving everyone "knuckles". He holds his sweet little fist out and expects everyone to bang their knuckles with his.

While I was gone my father-in-law came up to help Shawn with a few projects we still had to get done before little love gets here. When we moved into this house there was very little we had to do besides paint. There was however our third bathroom that serves as the guest bath that was just nasty. Looking at it put me in a bad mood. There were teenage boys using it before us so you can only imagine. I'm not sure why people paint certain rooms the way that they do but this was just beyond me. Take a look at the before...Ugh...look at the cabinets...They are a salmon color with tan trim. AND the lovely cowboy boots boarder. Just Lovely! The tile in the shower was pretty nasty as well. We didn't want to take the time to replace all of it, so Shawn spent 2 days scraping it all out and then re-grouting it. Huge difference...it's actually white!
We decided to keep it a very clean/neutral bathroom since it would be used as a guest and baby bathroom. We did the walls a cream color and the cabinets white.

SOOO much better. I can actually stand to be in there!! Shawn and Dwight also worked on the ceiling in our kitchen. It has this cut out where the lights are that was unfinished when we moved in. Shawny wanted to texture and paint it the same blue the rest of the kitchen is in...
Before...
After...
It looks so much better!! Shawn's dad was a huge help to come up and do all of this while I enjoyed a relaxing weekend. I just can't believe they got all of that done in 2 days. Next on our list...the counter tops. Hopefully after that we will be done with projects and can relax until May!!

And we're back!

Alright, so I think I have said this at the beginning of each post but...it has been a while since my last! :) My brother-in-law, Eric, gives me a hard time about that just about everytime I see him. Well a lot has changed since my last post and I'm pretty sure I couldn't catch you guys up in just one post but I'll list of the major things that happened:

1. I started my job at Tech
2. Shawn started his job in Plainview and loved it!
3. We thought long and hard about getting a new puppy and finally decided on our sweet Lola, an English bulldog.
4. We found out we are expecting our first child!!!!!!
5. Shawn found out he was getting transferred to Shamrock, TX.
6. I quit my job at Tech.
7. We moved to Shamrock.
8. Shawn still loves his job and I am learning how to be a stay at home wife/soon to be mom.
So in our almost 3 years of marriage we have moved a total of 6 times. Luckily that is about to slow down! I am in no way complaining either; we have grown so much throughout those 6 moves.

So my dear friend Lindsey has been dying for pictures of our new place here in Sham Town. So Lindsey...here you go! We have a lot of pictures from when we first moved in but have finally finished putting everything where we want it. I only have a few recent pictures but I promise you, Lindsey, I will get them all up here soon!

Here is our living room with its new coat of a wonderful blue paint that we love. Our goal with this house was to stay away from the tans, greens, and browns that we have done in every other house! And, here is the kitchen. I'll have new pictures of this room soon too..our new countertops have been ordered! Here is our bedroom.
And finally...for now. Here is the guest room.

I'll finish touching up the rest of the house this week and take new pictures of the other rooms. In closing, Shawn and I absolutely love our new home and are so thankful that it is only 3.5 hours away from Lubbock where all of our friends and family are. We have been on Lubbock overload lately and are looking forward to a small break for a while. Our sweet pups are probably ready for a break too! :) Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years...we sure did! Stay tuned for more!!

It's been a while...Sorry.

Well it sure has been a wile and I do apologize for that. We have had a lot going on that I could have been blogging about but I just didn't feel up to it. Where to begin...I'm sure most of you know by now that we have moved back to Lubbock!! Woo Hoo. Shawn's job is going great and he is really enjoying it. I actually start my new job on Monday up at Tech! I'm excited and hope that it goes well.

Our nephew, Brenden, is growing so fast! He is absolutely adorable...I don't know who loves him more, me or Shawn! I love seeing Shawn with Brenden; it makes me realize how lucky our children are going to be. He will be a great dad someday. Here is just one picture of the growing boy himself. I have plenty more...I just haven't uploaded them.

Well, I thought that I would have more to say since it has been about 3 months since my last posting. I WILL be better about that!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Texas Bound!!

That's right!! We are moving back to Texas! Shawn was offered a job in Plainview that we just couldn't pass up. It might not be Lubbock but we certainly are not going to complain. We asked God to provide us with an opportunity to get back home and that is exactly what He did. Friends, the power of prayer is so amazing. Whenever you have a fear or a concern just lay it all out to God and He WILL listen. He will eventually provide for you in ways that you never imagined. Shawn and I have been so blessed in our marriage so far. When we have a worry or fear we pray and ask God to be the third person in our marriage so that we can have His help in all that we do. We have never been let down. We would like to thank all of you who kept us in your prayers. They were certainly felt.

**I wish that I could keep going with all of the news with Shawn and I but I got a call today from a friend of mine informing me on the death of one of my friends from junior high. Needless to say my mind is a little blocked. Latosha Murray was a dear friend of mine back when I went to Idalou; although I haven't talked to her since High School, I am still haunted by this news. She had a young daughter I believe to be around the age of 3. I can't help but think about the fact that this sweet and innocent girl will no longer get to see her mommy. There has been an account set up for her daughter, Avery, at City Bank and I encourage you to donate what you can to help her family...even though you may not know her. This is such a tragic thing and I wish that there was more that I could. As of right now all I feel that I can do is pray. I ask you, too, to take the time to say a little prayer for Latosha's mom, dad, and daughter.**

Our Arkansas Adventure Begins...Sorda

Well here we are!! Sorry this has taken so long for all of you who have been waiting on it! A lot has been going on, so Shawn and I thought that now would be a great time to start up our blog. Where to begin...I could start back in January of this year when Shawn moved to Arkansas and I stayed back in Texas to finish school, but that seems so long ago and I really don't want to think back on that. How about the good news!! We made it!! 5 months apart from each other and we had only been married for 6 months! Fortunately for us the time flew by and the next thing you know we are back in Lubbock this past weekend for my COLLEGE graduation.

Let me tell you, that is such a sense of accomplishment! I am so proud of both myself and my sweet husband for sticking through the hard times and getting our degrees. It has already paid off. Although, being in the "real world" is not what we expected. We thought that we wanted to get out of Lubbock and move away so that we can finally do things our way. We thought that it would all be so easy; that Shawn's job would be what we had been waiting for and that I would find a great job as well. Well, a month after I got here we had a change of heart. We began to realize who and what we had back home. Our friends and family all of the sudden meant so much more to us. I feel awful saying that...but you truly do not realize how much your loved ones mean to you until you are away from them. This was really tough on both of us seeing that neither of us had ever lived outside of Lubbock...well Texas for that matter.

We began to pray that God would somehow lead us back to the place that we loved. We honestly didn't care how we got there...we just wanted to get back. Well much to our surprise God had a great opportunity lined up for Shawn this past weekend while we were in Lubbock. Shawn had an interview that sounds extremely promising. But almost to good to be true. Could we get back to Lubbock so quickly?? We sure hope so! We won't hear back from this company for about another week. This is where you...yes you...fit into our story. We KNOW that you guys want us back just as much as we want to get back...haha just kidding. But seriously, this is a very confusing time for us and we would appreciate it if you guys kept us in your prayers.

I have a lot more that I can say...but I'm going to make you wait for another post. This one is long enough. We hope you guys enjoyed our very first blog and I (Jamie) promise to keep it updated as much as I possibly can. I will also keep you updated on our journey back home.
