SEVEN. MONTHS. OLD.

HOW?

How have seven months passed since Hutch Irvin Overton was born? I watched some of the videos we took at the hospital and sadly can't remember some of it!? Am I terrible for admitting that? I'm sure I'm not the only mom that looks back and can't remember much from that crazy day! I did go all natural...so I guess it's best that I don't remember all that pain.  I wish everyone who reads this blog and hasn't met our sweet baby could do so. He is the sweetest, funniest, most loving little man I know. Here's the latest on him:

- His new nickname is "string bean". He went to the Dr. today and is in the 80th percentile for his height...28 inches!
- 24th percentile for weight...just over 17 lbs.
-53rd percentile for head...so for those of you who say he has an "Overton head"...he is perfectly normal!...for now :)
- He STILL hates avocado...breaks my heart. I wish he liked it so badly...I love avocado. Shawn hates it so I guess there is no hope for him.
-We have been working on sippy cups lately too. We got him some new ones today and he seems to really like them.
-He is SO very close to crawling. We know that he will do it on his own time though.
- He is learning certain "games" we play here at the house. He loves it when you crawl to him, clap his hands (he is starting to clap them himself too), he loves looking at himself in the mirror oh and so many more things!
-He has the sweetest belly laugh you will ever hear. I'm not joking on this one. Every time I get the video camera to capture that sweet sound he stops! Drives me crazy.
-He also thinks it's the greatest thing in the world to SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH really LOUDLY! Strangely enough it happens when I'm singing...does he want me to stop? is he singing too? or is he like a dog and howls when he hears high pitched noises. I'm sure my hubby, parents and sister know what sound I'm talking about :) They hear it often.

Oh the joy that boy brings us. Besides Shawn he is my greatest blessing. God sure did know what he was doing when he created our baby and I'm so very glad He chose me to be the mommy to Hutch.

I'm behind on pictures! I'll take some soon and post!

Thanksgiving

Well we made it through November! We were in Lubbock literally 4 or 5 times. That's a lot when you have a 7 month old and 3 dogs and a 3.5 hour drive.  I'm happy to have a break for a bit. We had a great time with family while we were home though. Hutchy boy got to see lots of family and friends and got a little spoiled I might add. He DID NOT sleep good at all while we were there so when Sunday rolled around and we were back home he slept for hours! AND still went to bed at his normal time! He had lots of catching up to do; so did we...I'm still wanting to catch up!

Hutch loves other kids or babies...his cousin Brenden is one of his favorites :) Brenden brought EVERY. SINGLE. TOY. to Hutch at my parent's house one afternoon. He was so sweet to show him how to play with them too. Here are some sweet pictures I got of the boys...there aren't many. Brenden refuses to look at the camera and if he did Hutch didn't want to look....I tried though.

Brenden LOVES to hold Hutch. He says, "Momma, I hold Hutch Me." He ends everything with "me".

Brenden just had to say hi to the neighbors!

Brenden is seriously the sweetest little boy...besides Hutch :) He saw my mom, sister and me playing with dominos so he decided that he wanted to play with the "don-does".  He is also obsessed with Shawn. I walked into my sisters house and he looked right past me and said "Where's Shawn??" "Deedus, Where's Hutch?" Well, who cares about me!!!! It breaks my heart but I know he does love me :)...when Shawn isn't around.

Quilted alphabet

A while back I found a tutorial for quilted alphabet letters. I LOVED them and thought they would make a fun baby gift for one of my friends who was having a little girl. Well I bought all the stuff and just never got around to making them. I started my quilt so that took up my sewing time. In the end I'm so glad I waited to make them because they were much harder than I anticipated. All of my tricks from quilting helped a lot though! These are small but I found another tutorial for big ones that I plan on making for my little Hutch...hopefully they won't be as difficult!  I also made a camera strap cover but I'm not thrilled with how it came out...I will say that for not having a tutorial or pattern to go by...I did pretty good on it. I'll re-do it the "right" way and post pics soon.

More Pictures

More pictures! As you can tell from the pictures Hutch got to meet santa.  Our church had wonderful event to raise money for missions. Santa was invited obviously. Hutch was so tired with his first meeting with him he just sat there. So we let him sleep for a little while and tried again after he woke up. Much better! Hutch talked and talked to him...he has a pretty long Christmas list ;) We got video of it too...I'll get that posted soon. How big is he getting?! Seriously?

Pictures!

Finally! I can upload pictures now...I'll admit I was so frustrated I created another blog with a different site. Glad to say I can delete that one now. I prefer blogger. Enjoy the pictures! Well I'm not thrilled with how they are uploading and how small they are but oh well.

Getting caught up

I feel horrible! It's been a good while since I have blogged anything. We had computer issues which MADE us get a new computer. We are so glad we did...we are officially an Apple family :) I was so worried that I had lost all of my pictures of Hutch...but luckily they guy that worked on it was able to get it going so we could save all of our pictures. I think we also need to invest in an external hard drive.

Hutch is getting so big and is so sweet. Let's see Hutch is:
-Still sleeping through the night. It's wonderful. He LOVES his sleep. He has gotten to the point where he really doesn't even like to be rocked. Just feed him and lay him down. NO FUSSING EITHER!
- He takes 2 2-3 hour naps during the day
- He has 2 solid feedings during the day and gets mommy's milk for all the other feedings.
- He is now eating bananas, apples, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, peas, cereal...I know there are more I just can't think of them all. He loves them all too! I LOVE making all of his baby food too! No store bought Gerber things...all fresh produce!
- He is sooo very close to crawling!!! He makes so much progress each day.
- He loves the puppy dogs. He talks to them anytime they are around. *I think Hattie is his favorite...she let's him pet her without licking him like crazy
- I think it's safe to say he loves my singing! This just warms my heart. He can be in the most dramatic cry and then I start singing the itsy bitsy spider and he stops. I have a cute video to post soon of him listening to Sugarland...I sing their new song "stuck like glue" to him all the time. It was on the TV the other day and he stopped everything to watch it!
- He loves everyone...except for my dad sometimes. As much as it breaks my dad's heart...I think it is pretty cute. I'm not sure what it is about dad that scares him.
- He sits up so good now but he makes falling over sound like the worst thing that could ever happen to a six month old.
Here are some 6 month pictures: Well scratch that...I can't upload pictures for some reason. Check back later...I'll figure it out.

Shawn and I have been so busy lately...I have been in Lubbock every weekend this month! That is one of the worst drives when you have to make it that often. We have a break this weekend so it's going to look like Christmas in the Overton home. Hutch has his very first Christmas tree in his room! Shawn and I plan on getting each of our kids their own trees for their rooms so they can decorate them however they want. We will help Hutch out the first few years :)

*It's really killing me that I can't upload pictures.

I still haven't finished my quilt. It is all layered together...I just have to learn to quilt now and then put my binding on...but I also have to have time to do all of this. Something that I don't have much of right now. While our laptop was "hibernating" I worked on a few sewing projects. I made a quilted alphabet for our friends little girl. They turned out so cute...again..wish I could post pictures. I also made a camera strap cover...not the prettiest thing but cute. I couldn't look at the tutorial online so I just had to wing it. I'll re-do it the correct way soon.

I guess that's about it. I'll do a picture post once I figure out what the deal is. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
