Quilting

I'm so very excited to say that I have started quilting lessons with two sweet friends here in Shamrock! I've always loved quilts...especially the ones my grandmother AND great-great-grandmother made (the one from my great-great grandmother is for looks only...I will not allow anyone to use it). Of course, they did all of theirs' by hand...I'll stick with my machine. Here's the deal...my friends, Lee Ann and Michelle, found a beginners quilting class in Amarillo on Mondays that they wanted us to go to. Well, I just so happen to have an amazing little four/almost FIVE month old baby boy that is not allowed in the quilting class...so that excluded me from getting to go. My friends, on the other hand, have been so sweet to teach me all that they are learning in the class! We started this past Saturday and I am officially hooked. It took me all day to cut my fabric and sew one 9 patch square...and here it is:

Isn't the fabric fun? These are only 2 of my 5 fabric choices. I worked on it again today and am close to getting all of my 9 patch squares made.  Lee Ann, Michelle and I are planning on getting together once a week to quilt...it is wonderful girl time. Lee Ann has an AMAZING sewing room where all three of us can sit and sew comfortably (it's a crafty girl's dream room).

As I was working today I looked over to see this sweet boy...how adorable is he. Oh he makes my heart happy :)

Check back each week...I plan on blogging my progress with the quilt! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Happy 25th Birthday Jamie Dianne Overton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***Warning: the following statement may be slightly biased…although completely true!***
I would like to say Happy Birthday to the love of my life, the world’s greatest wife, and the best Mother there’s ever been!  She blesses me more than I deserve, provides me with strength, encouragement, and gives me something to look forward to come home to every day.  She’s a Godly woman who is gentle, kind-hearted, loving, and selfless.  She can cook like a pro, sew anything "other than a dress", and sing like her idol-Cher (although I think she sounds way better).  She takes wonderful care of her 200+ pound baby and her 2-toothed baby!  She’s the world’s greatest photographer and a beauty queen on the inside and out!  This world became a much better place when, 25 years ago today, God decided to bring my Jamie into the world!  Happy birthday babe, I love you…thanks for all you do!
P.S-I edited that picture all by myself!

Lola and The Bullfrog

You're going to love this! All summer long Lola has had a new best friend. There are times at night when she refuses to come inside so Shawn has to go out there and drag her in. Each time he has to get her he finds that she is playing with something...a bullfrog :) She just LOVES this frog and finds him/her everyday. We went out of town and forgot to tell the dog sitter about this new friend of hers. When we got home we had a note from Becky that said this:
"Shawn and Jamie, They did really well. Except on Thursday night, Lola was chasing a frog in the yard and didn't want to come in. It was cute- the frog would hop, then she would hop!"

Shawn and I cracked up when we read this. Our sweet little bulldog can befriend anything!

I was lucky enough to get video of her playing with her frog this morning! I have a night time video but it's really hard to see so I was happy to get this one! Enjoy it...and forgive my conversation I carry on with myself...I was so worried that she would hurt the frog. She didn't...I went and got it and put it under our shed. Oh, and the video is long...sorry but it was too cute I didn't want to stop.

19 Weeks

Isn't this precious? I mean really? Look at those sweet/fat cheeks. If I were a little closer and his mouth were open wider...you could see one sweet little tooth that is coming in! This really caught us off guard. For about a month Hutch has been putting his hands in his mouth and fussing but I didn't really think it was teething...I was wrong. A few days ago I put my finger in his mouth to feel and sure enough there was a little tooth coming in on the bottom. I looked and can see two trying to poke through. As usual...Shawn and I take weekly pictures of our little man. If you are wondering why it's because I'm planing on putting together an album of Hutch's first year. We thought it would be fun to do a book of weekly pictures.  Plus...I like photography and he is my little model each week. Here are a few of him at 19 weeks! As Shawn says in our weekly email to family..."enjoy the handsomeness" :)

Mr. Giggles

Our little "Hutchkin" gets more and more fun each day. He LOVES his attention from mommy and daddy and often gets rather upset if I have to set him down to do something. It's pretty cute to see how he is reacting to the things that we do. He sits in his Bumbo chair and watches me get ready, work in the kitchen and he eats like a big boy from his chair. This video shows him laughing as Daddy puts him in his car seat. *WARNING* There is a point where Hutch spits up so if you have a weak stomach you might not watch. It's not bad...but I'm just warning you. It's what babies do right? :) Enjoy

Fun at the Park

Hutch Irvin had his first day at the park! Shawn had Friday off so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day and have a picnic.  I love picnics and this was our first as a sweet little family. Hutch was pretty tired when we first got there but once he got out and walked around with his daddy he woke up. He and daddy went down the slide and played on the swings! It was pretty cute. Here are some fun pictures of Hutch's first day at the park. Enjoy.

4 Months

LOOK WHO IS SITTING UP! Of course he can't hold himself up very long but he sure is working on it. I'm so in love with this little boy and I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that he is a Momma's Boy! It's crazy how fast he is growing. I fed him his first real banana yesterday and he LOVED it. He ate every last bit of it!

He has been eating so good from a spoon and I can't wait to introduce him to new foods. My in-laws got me the baby food maker from Williams-Sonoma and I'm chomping at the bits to make some fun meals for him.But I know I need to take it slow.  I have some pictures of Shawn feeding Hutch his oatmeal...and it was a huge mess. I, on the other hand, am pretty good about keeping him pretty clean during meals. :) I will say that he has started grabbing the spoon and pulling it towards his mouth which does make it a little difficult to keep him clean. I'll post those soon.

He has rolled over a few times now! He rolled from his tummy to his back first on Shawn's birthday! I was in the kitchen cleaning when I heard silence...I have learned to check on him when you hear nothing...and he was sound asleep on his tummy. I had laid him on his back...I MISSED THE FIRST TIME HE ROLLED OVER FROM HIS BACK. I called Shawn to tell him and almost cried. I'll admit that I am a cry baby now that I have had Hutch. I get emotional at the silliest things...The Office? Really? That's supposed to be a funny show.

Here are some more of his 4 month pictures that I took the other morning. Enjoy!

His lips crack me up in this one :)

I love the little details of my baby.

Midnight talker

For the last week Hutch has been waking up in the middle of the night or early morning to practice his talking skills for a few minutes and then go back to sleep. He wakes us up every time and we can't help but lay there and laugh a little. I put the camera by the bed so I could catch a little of it the other morning. It's pretty early so there is nothing to watch...just listen. It's precious.

Talking to the TV

Hutch loves to talk to the TV! Anytime we are watching it and someone comes on he is TALKING. He and Shawn were watching ESPN the other day and he decided to talk to Tiger Woods...
